First taste of cereal and Lynsey's cake

Time made for blogging is few and far between. I guess I have been spending my time on other "things"....

Like feeding Dawson his first taste of rice cereal... In his bedroom.

It went fairly well.

I had these helpers near by willing to help.

This is a cake I made for friend Lynsey. I am posting this picture for Robyn (sorry it took me three months).

Today

Another picture of the wound

Today McCrae and I made a visit to Instacare.

Saturday night we were weeding the flower bed in the front of our house and he was helping with his flip-flops and a shovel. NOT a good combination. He chopped with his shovel right into his big toe at the joint. The cut was 3/4 inch wide and plenty deep. Bryan rinsed it out in the bathtub and then with peroxide. We probably should have taken him to the ER but because it was his toe and the thought of paying a huge bill, we decided to put him to bed and wait and go to instacare today. They flushed the cut and put him on antibiotics for infection. He has been running a fever and been sooo tired.
Poor little guy! His primary teacher called to make sure he hadn't cut his toe off. Bryan talked to a family in our ward on his way into church and told them McCrae had tried to cut off his toe. Word spreads fast.

Baby's firsts

First pair of jeans. It is kind of ridiculous to put jeans on a child this small. You kind of have to dump him into them and then shake him tell you can pull them up. But aren't they the cutest little jeans you've ever seen?

First smile caught on camera. I think he has the biggest smile out of all of the boys.

First bath at home on record.

He is only two months old and has already had his first trip to Grandma's house, and been to his first wedding.

My Bee-Keeping Man

He's been talking about it for a few years now. He finally did it! Bryan dawning his bee keeping suit.

The day he got his bees.

Bee food (sugar water and mint/protein something or other

He jokes the first batch of honey he gets will be the most expensive jar of honey ever purchased (around $300).

McCrae and Bryan with his hive on the right. He spent the winter building the hive.

An Easter blessing

Easter Sunday was a special day for our family. These two little cousins were blessed. Dawson Faron Wilkins and Braxton Devin Grover born 13 days apart. Devin and Stacy made the trip to Logan from Blanding to share this special day.

Proud Daddies Bryan and Devin. Dawson was blessed by his Dad. Braxton was blessed by his Grandpa (Papa Gordon).

The first photo of our family of FIVE.

Grandma and Dawson at the luncheon. I always over do when it comes to planning a large family meal. If anyone went home hungry it was their own fault. We made plenty of food for everyone...and then some!

Easter weekend also included making/decorating dinasour eggs,

seeing the Easter Bunny at the end of the grocery store
bunny trail,

and an outside easter egg hunt with all the cousins.

little Ryker getting in on the fun.

No easter is complete without easter baskets!

Look at me.. I'm THREE!!!

Blowing out candles on his Buzz Lightyear cake graciously decorated by Grandma. (It was baked and I went into labor while I was making the frosting. Thanks for covering for me Holly.)

With the baby coming two days before Kellons birthday we planned on celebrating early but that didn't happen so we celebrated a few days after.

sporting his new doctor kit.

riding his new jeep!! We've been trying out potty training and so the reward for going potty was going to be a toy at the store. When we got to the story he said he wanted a car 'up there'. He thought he was going to get a car like this for going potty so he was excited to get this jeep for his birthday.

The End and the Beginning

The Birth Story
Anxiously awaiting the birth of little Dawson, Gram-E came to stay on March 10th. All the friends and neighbors who had volunteered to keep the boys while me and Bryan went to the hospital were informed that they were off the hook for the middle-of-the-night phone call because Gram-E was in town. We planned and talked about how everything might happen once labor began not knowing that we would be waiting for so long for the BIG day (night). Trying to take some control of the situation, and being so impatient I scheduled with my doctor to be induced as soon as she would let me. The labor induction was set for Thursday, March 24th. Meanwhile I was hoping, waiting and wondering every day if that day would be 'the day'. Tuesday I woke up on the wrong side of the bed feeling depressed and not being able to face the reality that I was still pregnant, I asked Gram-E if she would watch the boys and went back to bed. A nap cured me and I went about the day getting ready for Kellon's birthday party we were planning to have on Wednesday. I was feeling pelvic pressure all day but didn't think too much about it. Gram-E and I went to her friend Sherry's who does foot zones house real quick after dinner to have her check my feet to see if she could feel for any signs of labor. She didn't want to mess too much with mother nature so she rubbed my feet some and sent us on our way. We got home just as Bryan was putting the boys to bed. I was going to stay up and decorate Kellon's birthday cake but I started spotting and felt like I should go to bed. The contractions started. They were getting closer together so I timed them at 5 minutes apart. I laid in bed trying to relax while the pain was getting more intense. After being asleep for maybe 30 minutes I woke up Bryan and told him we should get going. We gathered a few things and left for the hospital. While walking from the parking lot to the elevator my water broke. I knew at this point we were not going to be sent back home (that has always been a fear of mine when I get to the end of pregnancy). We checked into Labor and Delivery and got hooked up to the all the monitors. Right away I asked for something to take the edge off the pain. She checked my progression and I was at 4. Bryan got out the tennis ball the rub my back and help me relax through the contractions. The nurse came in to make sure we were doing alright. She hadn't seen an increase in the baby's heart rate that is normal during contractions so she brought and sound device to try and spike his heart rate. I asked her if I could stand to change position and relieve some back labor pain. She helped me stand up and told me to let her know when I felt pressure and she would check me. I felt immediate pressure so she had me quickly sit back down on the bed and called into her pager for back up. The room instantly started buzzing with nurses. The doctor did not make it. The baby's head had emerged and they told me to push a little and the baby was born. They did not even have time to put up the stirrups on the delivery bed. When the doctor arrived we asked her if this happens a lot and she quickly said "no, I don't live very far away." She stiched me up while I held the baby. Bryan called his parents and I called my Mom to let her know the baby was here. Everyone (including me) were so surprised how fast he came. Once we got up to our room they took Dawson to check vital signs and what not and told us he would be coming right back to our room. After a good amount time passed and we hadn't seen the baby we found out he was in the NICU to monitor his fast breathing. His oxygen saturations got under control and he remained in the NICU to monitor glucose levels. Bryan and I walked down to feed him every three hours for about 36 hours and waited each feeding to hear the result of the glucose test. Finally we were able to bring him back upstairs for the remainder of the hospital stay. Because of cold and flu season McCrae and Kellon didn't get to come to the hospital to visit. We were all happy to come home and start adjusting to life with a new baby. The end of pregnancy and the beginning of life as the mother of three!

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day this year started with shopping for balloons and snacks. We tried to visit Bryan at work but he was at lunch with work buddies. He called us to thank us for the Valentine surprise we delivered to him. The boys loved their valentine puppies. The only kind of pets Mom will let them have.

We did a family date for the evening. It turned out to be fun. This year it was easier to all go out rather than having a babysitter come and watch the boys.

We ended the day with a little F.H.E.

Getting ready for baby

With boy #3 coming soon there are not too many things we have to purchase to be ready for baby's arrival. Just a few "essentials".

I am switching to glass bottles this time around. Hopefully the switch will be a little more healthy for baby. I am nesting like crazy although the spurts of energy are few and far between. There is still things that have to be done before he comes like: get the nursery ready, wash all the clothes that have been in storage, pack for the hospital, install the carseat.

If a almost 3 year old can fit snuggly in the baby bjorn a newborn will fit like a charm. Hopefully this will be easier on my back than carrying the carseat when we go out to run errands.

Me at 28 weeks.

Only 4.5-6.5 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome

I was at Hobby Lobby one day and saw this picture. I noticed that instead of buying it they were offering classes to make it so I signed up. One night while Bryan was out of town I called a babysitter and went to the class. It took three hours to paint the frame, glue and texture the print and assemble everything together. I am SO glad I went to the class. I admire the picture every time I walk down to the basement! LOVE IT!!!!

Bryan's Birthday

We spent Bryan's birthday this year swimming in Brigham City and then shopping in Layton. McCrae and I wanted to give him guitar hero for the Wii so that is what we did. He didn't want a birthday cake so he settled for chicken fried steak and called that 'good enough'. Happy Birthday Bryan!!

Happy New Year

After spending about a week in Kanab with the Grovers we headed to Vernal for a couple of days to ring in the new year with Bryan's family. We had a rockin New Years Eve party at Flynn and Dawn's house with good food and good conversations. As the kids started getting tired we called it a night and headed back to put kids to bed. We brought in the new year with a couple of games of apples to apples with Stuart, Holly, Christopher, Tiffany and little Ryker. Fun times!!
