Oh the things to do with only one instead of two!

We went to vernal last weekend for Meagan's baby shower. She had a fairly good turn out and got some very useful things. Bryan went deer hunting with Stuart, Dustin and Chris. He didn't know he had a tag until a few days before the hunt. He hasn't been hunting at all as long as I have known him. He really likes it but other things have taken higher priority (school, wife, family). For those reasons I am glad that he was able to get a deer. We told McCrae that when he could go potty and no longer needed a diaper he could stay at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. We didn't know even right up until we left on Sunday if he would really want to stay. Just as we were packing up Connie and Dick showed up with a big battery operated tractor. I think it sweetened the deal a little and McCrae really wanted to stay. He spent the week with Grandma and Bryan and I came back home. Our house has not been this quiet since McCrae was Kellon's age. I tried to put the extra time to good use.


I went christmas shopping and wrapped gifts. This is one thing that is next to impossible to accomplish with a toddler and a baby and try and keep both happy while shopping. I am never this organized but it feels great to know I am almost done! I cleaned some blinds in my living room (I don't know when the last time they got cleaned). I also got my much needed hair cut and color and found a local stylist worth keeping.


I made cupcakes for a Sunday school object lesson on chastity. I asked my class if they wanted one and they all did until I picked one up and licked it. I think they got the message.


I went to Super Saturday and painted a lot of crafts that I signed up for. Now I have to make the time to finish them. Kellon did really well to hang out mostly in the nursery while I was frantically trying to get everything painted. I was on the food committee for this activity so I spent the night before making soup and brownies. I am pleased with how everthing turned out.

I bottled the last of my tomatoes (sigh). The last batch was the biggest - 7 quarts! I only had one that didn't seal. What a relief to know the growing season is over and I don't have to worry about what to do with vegetables that are spoiling because I can't eat them fast enough.

The first thing McCrae did when he walked in the door after traveling back home was say "Mom come and see what is in the trunk" Of course his tractor - he wanted to ride it some more. Kellon had a nice little ride too!

My cute little niece Kaira. I took this picture during one of my many weekend visits to my sisters house when they lived in Idaho Falls. The drive was so short and was before I had kids. I miss them not living close. Taken in June 2004 I think she and Senna were on their to a studio to get their pictures taken. She is still cute but not quite as little.

Potty Training A CRAPPY Job

We have been working with McCrae for about 3 months now to potty train him. We started with a potty bag to get him interested in the potty. He was not motivated by treats (candy). Matchbox cars seemed to work at first. That got old and somewhat expensive. We then moved on to a sticker chart where he earned a sticker for each trip to the potty. We let him choose a truck/tractor each time he filled up the chart. That worked for a couple of weeks and then it too got old and boring. We finally just resorted to no more diapers (he was using diapers as a crutch). The result (after cleaning up more accidents than I would have liked)... McCrae is potty trained HOORAY!!!!! Next job, teach him to get dressed from the waist down after going potty urgh!

Six Month pics

All in a days work

Kellon got his helmet yesterday. We are following the orthotist's recommendations to ease into wearing it all the time. He wore it on and off for a couple of hours yesterday and has been wearing it a little more today. He is tolerating wearing it very well. He screams when I put it on and take it off. I am still learning how to do it with out poking him here or scratching there. His head gets really hot while the helmet is on. For that reason I feel really bad that he has to wear it.

As the day wore on McCrae was quietly playing in his room. He rarely plays for twenty or thirty minutes without interruption. I was in Kellon's room changing his diaper when I heard/saw a big crash and McCrae started crying. He pulled his dresser over on him.

When we purchased the dresser I specifically asked the sales person "how stable is this dresser? Can a child pull it over on himself?". Of course the reply was "oh no it should be fine for a younger child's bedroom".

Thankfully, he did not get hurt, just scared. When Bryan came home from work he had to bend part of the hardware back in shape before the drawer would go back in.

We finished the day by watching the Vice President hopefuls debate. How interesting.
